FAQs

1. What is PowerVault?

PowerVault is an all-in-one battery charging and power management system that replaces multiple chargers and unifies your entire power workflow into a single, intelligent platform housed in a rugged, transport-ready case. It combines charging, power distribution, monitoring, and off-grid capability into one system.

2. What makes PowerVault different from traditional chargers?

Traditional chargers are fixed, single-purpose devices. PowerVault is a modular, multi-format system that consolidates your entire power ecosystem. Instead of managing separate chargers, battery platforms, and power solutions, PowerVault brings everything into one configurable system—reducing complexity, saving time, and minimizing on-set downtime.

3. What batteries does PowerVault support? Does it support drone batteries?

PowerVault supports;

  • V-mount
  • G-mount
  • SNAP packs
  • Sony® BP-U
  • Sony® L-series
  • Sony® FZ100
  • Canon® BPA
  • Canon® LP-E6
  • Panasonic® Lumix BLK22

....and even AA, AAA, and 9V batteries.

We are continuing to expand the PowerVault adapter ecosystem ahead of launch. Drone battery support is something we are actively evaluating as part of that roadmap.

4. How many batteries can I charge at once, and how fast?

PowerVault features five configurable charging bays. In its base configuration, it supports five SNAP positions and can scale up to 40 SNAP packs when stacked in parallel.

Each bay delivers approximately 40–50W per battery, allowing a typical 98Wh V-mount to charge in under 2 hours while charging up to five batteries simultaneously.

Typical charge times:
- 98Wh V-mount / G-mount / SNAP: ~2 hours
- 2x BP-U / BPA: ~4 hours
- 2x L-series (NP-F970 equivalent): ~2 hours
- 2x LP-E6: ~1 hour
- AA / AAA / 9V: varies by capacity

5. Can I power devices directly from PowerVault?

Yes. PowerVault functions as a central power hub, featuring a 140W PD Pro port, 65W PD Pro port, and dual USB-C outputs—allowing you to power cameras, monitors, laptops, and more directly from the system.

6. What is PD Pro?

PD Pro is Core SWX’s enhanced USB-C power delivery system that extends beyond standard USB-C limits, enabling higher voltage and sustained power for professional equipment. It intelligently manages power negotiation to reliably support high-draw devices such as cinema cameras and laptops, while remaining compatible with standard USB-C cables.

7. Can PowerVault operate without AC power?

Yes. In Power Sharing Mode, batteries can redistribute energy between bays, allowing them to charge each other and maintain USB-C output without external AC input. The top three bays feed power to the lower two, creating a self-contained, off-grid power system.

8. What is Power Sharing Mode?

Power Sharing Mode is a user-controlled feature that can be turned on or off via a dedicated control. When enabled, it transforms connected batteries into an active energy network—allowing them to dynamically share power within the system rather than operate as isolated units. This enables continuous operation and extends usability in remote or mobile environments.

9. How do I monitor and control the system?

Each port features a red/green LED for quick charge status. PowerVault also connects via
Bluetooth to the PowerVault VoltBridge app, providing real-time visibility into battery levels, charging activity, and overall system performance all from your phone. The PowerVault operates fully independently, and the app is not required for use.

10. Is PowerVault usable on dark sets?

Yes. PowerVault includes an integrated LED interior backlight, making it easy to see battery placement, orientation, and status in low-light or night shooting environments. The lighting can be activated directly via a physical button or through the VoltBridge app.

11. Can I expand capacity?

Yes. SNAP packs can be stacked and used in parallel, allowing you to scale capacity and optimize both runtime and charging workflows.

12. Who is PowerVault designed for, and is it portable?

PowerVault is built for film crews, broadcast teams, content creators, and anyone managing multiple battery types in professional or mobile environments. Housed in a rugged, transport-ready case, it’s designed for immediate deployment—moving seamlessly from storage to set with no setup required.

13. How do the Snap Charge Adapters work?

Snap Charge Adapters magnetically attach to any of the five charging bays for fast, intuitive setup. The magnetic connection provides quick alignment and convenience, while integrated auto-latching mechanisms lock each adapter securely in place for a strong, reliable connection.

The system is intelligently configured: the top three bays are optimized for V-Mount, G-Mount, and SNAP battery packs, while the green color-coded adapters are designed for use on the lower two bays. V-Mount, G-Mount, and SNAP packs can be used on all five bays.

When it’s time to reconfigure, a simple button press releases the latch—allowing the adapter to be easily removed with a quick pull.

14. When is PowerVault shipping and how do I order?

PowerVault is available now through a limited crowdfunder.

By placing an order, you reserve your spot in the initial production run—securing the best pricing and earliest delivery, with shipping anticipated on October 31st. Orders are fully refundable up to 8 weeks prior to the scheduled ship date.

15. Will PowerVault only charge Core battery packs?

No. PowerVault is designed to be brand agnostic and supports most reputable manufacturers’ battery packs. Its modular Snap adapter system allows it to work across multiple battery platforms, not just Core products.

16. Are spare power supplies available?

Yes. PowerVault uses an external DC power supply (similar to a laptop-style power brick), and additional units will be available at launch if you need a spare or backup.

17. Can I select more than one of the same adapter?

The PowerVault introductory price includes 3 adapters at no additional cost. If you would like more than one of the same adapter, you can adjust quantities in your cart before checkout.

Additional adapters after the first 3 can also be purchased separately from our PowerVault Collection page.

Please note: Your PowerVault order includes 3 free adapters. Any additional adapters selected beyond the included 3 will not be included unless purchased separately.
