Epic Pixel is the production company founded by Boyan Ortse, who is a Dutch Cinematographer and Drone Operator that travels the world to produce eye-catching content for his clients. After catching our eyes as well on Instagram with his BTS photos, we wanted to know more about his career and how he relies on Core SWX to power him through his projects.
1. Please tell us a bit about yourself and your career.
My name is Boyan Ortse, a dutch cinematographer and drone operator. Normally working fulltime to travel abroad for projects and shooting all around the globe for clients in Tourism, Hospitality, Events and more. I begin my career as a UI/UX designer and bought my first camera (Panasonic GH4) 6 years ago and self-learned the work I do now.
2. What was one of your favorite projects you’ve worked on and why?
One of my all-time favourite projects was a Villa shoot for rental purposes in Italy, Lake Como. Together with my good friend and colleague Maarten Slooves we shot this villa and destination/activities to do as a client would experience this. The villa itself can be rented for approx €44.000 per week so they experience was unbelievable.
3. Can you think of a production that was more challenging than others, and how you overcame it?
As a fulltime traveler its always challenging to bring enough power for the shoot, especially with the limits of airlines (mostly 100kwh<) and since I purchased the Core SWX nano block batteries it way easier to prepare myself for shoots, the batteries last long and very easy to travel with.
4. What Core SWX power solutions do you rely on, and how are they beneficial to your productions?
I do have the CORE SWX Nano 98 Wh batteries, currently have 3 batteries and a travel charger, the fact that this package is small and very powerful is a very good value for me as I like to travel as light as possible. I really like small compact form of the batteries and charger.
5. Do you have any exciting project releases coming up that we should keep an eye out for?
I am always on the move and that is the most exciting about my job, I and currently finishing a project shot in Switzerland/Germany and will be shooting a product campaign video later this month in Lanzarote (Spanish island).
